Band of the month: Casey Jones

Jacksonville (Florida). Fed up with the lack of true Straight Edge pride bands, Casey Jones formed in early 2003. The band’s name is taken from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles character Casey Jones. With songs straight from the heart, and sometimes with a dose of humor, Casey Jones prides themselves on being a band that has no problem letting the rest of the world know how they have chosen to live their lives.

The band was originally started as a side project by current and ex-members of Evergreen Terrace/Anchors and in this moment have now separated themselves from the term “side project” by stepping up the pace, playing as many shows as possible, and doing their own tours. Casey Jones have been seen on tour with such bands as Kids Like Us, Evergreen Terrace, Until The End, Caliban, Scars of Tomorrow, and many many more.

The shows are fierce, and when you catch them live you will witness a performance filled with passion and energy. Pile-ons and sing-a-longs will be a definite. Straight Edge will be alive as long as Casey Jones has anything to do with it. Said frontman Josh James:
“When we started this band, we didn’t expect to release records, much less to gain fans across the world. We certainly didn’t expect so many people to be moved by our message. Because this band has never been first priority to its members, it has always equated to pure expression and pure fun. All things must come to an end, and we believe 2011 will be a great year to spend on tour and saying goodbye. This is going to be fun”.

The new LP I Hope We’re Not The Last is the perfect example of coherence and love for hardcore music.
