BIKE EXPO 2010 boasts two-digit growth

In its second year BIKE EXPO proved that its significance has considerably increased. More than 5,700 industry professionals came to the event, representing a substantial increase of 14 percent. Add to this the more than 20,000 consumers who came to BIKE EXPO during the weekend the show was open to the public.

The international character also improved; close to 24 percent of trade visitors hailed from foreign countries. Overall, visitors came from a total of 55 countries; the largest delegations came from Austria, Switzerland, Italy, and the neighboring Central Eastern European countries. Exhibitors commented favorable on the high quality of the trade visitors and the high degree of interest expressed by consumers. This positive development became apparent even prior to BIKE EXPO 2010.

Many industry greats joined the event as new exhibitors. Overall, 257 exhibitors (+ 22 percent) presented 392 brands (+ 45 percent) on 55,000 sqm (+17 percent) of exhibit space. This translates into two-digit growth in all relevant areas of the exposition. The high degree of organization and excellent infrastructure also received accolades from all participants.

The important focus topics of “Urban Mobility” and “E-Bikes” received a great deal of attention, in particular from the more than 500 international journalists. Both segments are developing into growth generators for the cycling industry. At BIKE EXPO 2010, these topics were presented with the help of a multi-faceted palette of models and technologies. Traditional brands as well as newcomers used BIKE EXPO to introduce their latest models and designs. Furthermore, the bike tourism industry was once again very pleased with BIKE EXPO as their presentation platform.

The training program with technical seminars and presentations was very well received. During the 3rd ispo innovation forum international representatives of industry, government, associations, and science discussed the “The Future of Bike Mobility”. In addition, the extensive side event program with test tracks, cycling training workshops, Bike Polo tournament, trial show, the BIG IN BAVARIA Dirtjump Contest provided a great atmosphere, even though some of the events had to be rescheduled due to weather problems.

BIKE EXPO 2011 will be held from July 21st to 24th at the exposition grounds of the New Munich Trade Fair.
