Dakine Updates: Yannick Granieri gives some news
Dakine teamrider and dirt slaughter Yannick Granieri updates us about his hot summer around the world:
Hi everyone,
I have been really busy of the last few weeks… so that’s why I haven’t been able to make my report…! So now I have one day left untill I fly to Denver… So I have a bunch of time to get my report to you ! But before, please have a look on this video, specially done for Dakine…
1st stop: Scandinavian photo contest : Are, Osterdund, Suede
Mathias Fredrikson organized this event in the famous skiing resort of Are in Sweden… Although this resort is famous for skiing, this place offers all the variety for MTB.
The goal of the week was to make of course good pictures but we had to put them all together to make a five minute slide show.
We had five teams, each having four riders and one photographer… And we had three days to get all the pictures.
So my team had Anthony Rocci, Stephane Cande, Pierre-Edouard Ferry and me !
We had a really good time and got some wicked pictures ! Here you got the slide show…

2nd stop: Dakine Freeride Festival : Saalbach Hintergleem, Autriche.
After leaving Otsersund at 8 am friday morning, I finally get in Saalbach at midnight…! Cool… A quick party to say hello to everyone and finally some sleep. The day after the dirt jump compt start at 7 pm so my friend Geoff Guilevich and me decided to check the downhill track… After a fun airbag contest, the dirt jump training start… The course was really cool and was starting on the roof of a restaurant…! The course was perfect, it had everything we need to call it a slopestyle…! The final fight was between Amir KabannI and myself, and this time Amir beat me !!! So second place for me, really happy about my week, I had a wicked time , I finally had chance to meet all the Dakine crew and David from adidas… Super cool people ! Can’t wait to come back next year…!
3rd stop Claymore Challenge: Boston, New hampshire, USA
I just had time to wash my clothes and here we go again…! Sometimes I feel I’m a gispy…! This time Boston USA, for the Claymore Challenge slopestyle… I heard lots of people talking about this event and I was really interested taking part in it… And they were right ! The place is AMAZING… The course was really good, it was finally a real Slopestyle course…! 12 stunt from top to bottom, it was my first session with my slopestyle bike, after a couple of run on the downhill track I get used to my bike. 40 guys on the top and they take only the top 14… After 2 runs of qualify, I get 8 th with one solid run. On saturday the final happens really good, I had a safe first run, and on my second run I try to step it up with pretty much the same run and finish with a backflip tailwhip on the last 30 foot jump !!! I couldn’t land it, because the wind blew up when I jumped it… Anyway I’m happy with myself and now I’m comfortable on my slopestyle bike ….!
4th stop : Big in Bavaria, Munich, Germany
Last Sunday, the Big in bavaria happen in Munich for the second time, the spot had as usual a really good shape. Thanks Markus Hampl and his crew ! The top guys were there… The miserable weather stoped the contest on friday and Saturday, wich luckily happened on sunday… So everyone get on the final with 3 runs, best one count…! My first run couldn’t have gone any better and that’s why I won the third place !!! (tailwhip drop, into a cork 360 on the first set, then flip, then 360 x-up step up into a backflip whip on the last one). Martin Soderstrom got the first place in front of Sam Pilgrim… I’m really really stocked about it, I felt really confident on my bike and this has made me pumped for the rest of the season…
I’m actually on the 4 th place of the FMB World tour…!! RAD!
Speak you soon…
Yannick
Update: Yannick just hit the second place at Crankworks in Whitler.
