ION is set to enter the mountain bike clothing market in 2013 with a strong team of athletes. Initially founded as a waterboardsports brand, ION is looking forward to joining the mountain bike worldwith a focus on freeriding and enduro: Antoine Bizet, Thomas Genon, Sam Pilgrim, Rob J Heran, Nicola Pescetto, Max Schumann, Markus Reiser, as well as a whole bunch of female riders are joining the ION collective.
The international Core Team consits of some well-known riders of the 2012 FMB World Tour: Antoine Bizet, the French rookie from Versailles, signed just two weeks before his second place at Red Bull Rampage 2012. The young Kona rider is considered one of the most progressive and promising big mountain talents.
The same can be said about Italian Nicola Pescetto, who is now spending his off-season in Barcelona to ride all winter with the Lacondeguy brothers: Nick turned some heads at the Whip Comp in whistler with his huge whipped backflips. Crankworx Joyride winner and third of the FMB World Tour overall ranking Thomas Genon (Belgium / Merida Bikes), and “Mr. Awesome” Sam Pilgrim (Great Britain / NSbikes / 5th FMB ranking 2012) keep the trick level up on the ION team.
The ION Enduro Collective features names like Rob J Heran – a well-known European freeride athlete who will concentrate on enduro races after becoming a proud father this year – or Markus Reiser, overall winner of the German Specialized-SRAM Enduro Series 2012.
Other additions include the Merida Freeride Team, Hannes Klausner and Tanja Hendrysiak, Megaavalanche specialist Max Schumann, or the Chinese Mag41 DH and German Enduro Mag race team.
On the female side, ION is represented by two TREK Gravity Girls, Kathi Kuypers and Michele Quint, enduro racers Julia Hoffmann and Steffi Teltscher as well as by one marathon race athlete, Katrin Neumann.
