La Thuile Enduro 2014

The 2014 season of the Enduro World Series is now geared up and La Thuile cannot wait to welcome such a big contest, showing to the whole MTB world its terrain and trails.

It’s time to find out a few of the secret corners of this unknown mountain bike paradise, and today we have two very special hosts. Anka and Sven Martin show us the high alpine scenery around La Thuile, with a ride which starts from the very top of the Fourclaz peaks, crosses Piccolo San Bernardo Pass, the most important passage between Italy and France since the ancient past, dropping down to the gorgeous Verney lake.

This is also the perfect time to know more about our guides and their experience. We learn about their perspectives and how they became who they are today, two passionate professionals of the MTB scene, reference for a number of people, in love with nature and with their job.

It has been a huge love for adventure and a strong spirit of exploration that has driven them across the world, together with their MTB, dreaming of the next switchback, of the next pass, and hungry to taste again the same flavour of the spot just ridden.

Aosta Valley is the Italian region that boasts the highest mountains of Europe: Mont Blanc, the Matterhorn, Monte Rosa peaks and many others. That’s why it is the best location for experiences and challenges where the reward is as big as the pure sense of fulfilment.

Reaching the Piccolo San Bernardo Pass at 2200 m after hours spent in the saddle is the best way to enjoy the breathtaking views of glaciers and wild landscapes, the free ticket for an epic day of pain and joy on the bike. But once there, it also means a cracking descent back to base, down to the 1500m of La Thuile!

Mmm, and what about if you could reach Piccolo San Bernardo from somewhere even higher, let’s say 2.600 m, of which 70% reachable by lift systems? Unbelievable?

What if you could look down to Piccolo San Bernardo, 400-500 m lower, from the very top of the world, surrounded by amazing peaks, while crunching a snack and stretching your legs, getting ready for the big descend?

In front of you hundreds of meters of descend, natural trails and single-tracks, mostly rocky, winding among picturesque meadows and mountain lakes. You’ll not find woods here, forget them: the land is open and barren and the winds run as fast as your bike!

And this is no more than a little taster of what la Thuile can offer you, just a flavour of what you will find in full at round IV of the Enduro World Series, 12 and 13 July 2014!
