Leogang rings in the biking season 2011
Whenever the Bikepark Leogang is having a celebration, a visit is definitely always worth it. This time, the Kona groove approved bike park beckons with attractive offers, expanded trails and a BBQ to join the Opening Weekend celebration from May 20th to 22nd. Visitors receive 30% of their lift passes for the entire weekend!
At the end of May it is high time to get the bike out of the cellar and get fit for the season at the Bikepark Leogang. The best weekend to do that is opening weekend from May 20th to 22nd because the bike park has a couple of surprises in store. On Saturday, May 21st, every visitor is invited to a delicious BBQ on the panorama-terrace of the B3. After an exhausting day on your bike, you can enjoy a traditional pork roast while stocks last.
And the day will really make you hungry since most trails are open from the middle to bottom station and the Flying Ganster (Freeride), Bongo Bongo Trail (Freeride), Hangman (Singletrail) as well as the Speedster (Downhill) are waiting for beginners and pros. As in past years, the bike park has put a lot of effort into constantly improving and expanding its trails. It’s definitely worth finding out what is new at the bike park!
If you feel a little rusty after the long winter months, the bike school Leogang is the right place for you to go. For the opening weekend, biking skills training is even offered for free to freshen up your dusty technique just in time for the start of the season. In the morning, grown-ups can get some useful hints and improve on their skills; in the afternoon, it’s the kids’ turn.
From Friday till Saturday, visitors can also admire a large bike exhibition at the bike park shop Sport Mitterer. If all the looking makes you curious, you can take out any bike for a free bike test. Starting with downhill, trekking, and freeride bikes to e-bikes and kids’ bikes, everyone is sure to find the ideal bike to try. And when the perfect bike is found, the huge sale of the 2010 model downhill and freeride bikes is nothing to sneeze at.
“Try it yourself” is also the motto for Kona Bike’s own booth. Experience the new Magic Link suspension system as well as the Operator frame right there and then!
This year, the Bikepark Leogang is once again part of the GraVity Card Coalition. The GraVity card is the most important accessory for guaranteed biking fun this season. Any mountain biker seeking diversity without breaking the bank can’t deny the advantages of the GraVity card: only one ticket for the entire season guarantees free entry into eleven different bikeparks. That doesn’t only save money, but you can skip the line to buy tickets and go straight to the trails. Find more info here: www.bikepark-leogang.com/en/opening-hours-prices/gravity-saisonticket/
During the 2011 season one highlight follows another starting with the Opening Weekend. Just to mention a few that you absolutely should not miss:
Out of Bounds Festival from June 10th to 19th, 2011:
Once again, the UCI World Cup is in town with the disciplines fourcross and downhill. As one of the most important mountain bike dirt jump contests, 26TRIX should definitely not be missed. If you still don’t have enough bike action after that, you’re welcome to watch the iXS Downhill Cup and a European Fourcross Series race. Even better yet – sign up and take part! At the same time, the festival is a kind of main rehearsal for the World Championships that will come to Saalfelden Leogang in 2012.
The Gap Camp from May 20th to 22nd as well as July 30th to 31st, 2011:
Two-day biking skills camp for beginners and advanced riders at the Bikepark Leogang, instructed by sports scientist and multiple Austrian downhill champion Michi Gölles. This time around, the first Gap Camp is part of the Opening Weekend!
Canyon Oakley Youth Freeride Camp from July 30th to August 6th, 2011:
The big names of the freeride sport guarantee individual training and professional coaching. Among others, Timo Pritzel, Rob J, Andi Wittmann, André Wagenknecht and Tibor Simai will be part of the camp.
Closing Weekend from September 30th to October 2nd, 2011:
Year after year, the closing weekend forms the perfect finish for the season with reduced prices for lift passes as well as the 2011 products in the bike shop and much more!
