The Freeski scene already knows the Mottolino Fun Mountain as the venue for the Nine Knights Freeski event that came to Italy for the first time last April.
After the event with the legendary snow castle turned out to be a great success on Fun Mountain, Nine Knights Mountain Bike will complete the Nine Knights family in Livigno.
Coming spring will be the second time the Schneestern crew are building a giant snow castle on the Mottolino Fun Mountain for freeski stars from all over the world – aka the Nine Knights – to show their breathtaking tricks from April 15-21, 2013.
In 2008, Germany’s freeski poster child Nico Zacek created the Nine Knights as a contest by athletes for athletes. Today, the Nine Knights events are famous beyond the limits of their sport for combining the highest athletic performance with spectacular pictures in front of breathtaking backgrounds.
The unique backdrop and perfect infrastructure are two of the reasons why the Nine Knights Mountain Bike event will also be taking place in Livigno for the first time this year. Coming summer, new freeride trails and a gigantic obstacle shaped like a castle are part of the preparations at the Mottolino bike park.
From September 1-8, the mountain bike freeride elite will follow host Andi Wittmann’s invitation and flock to Livigno for exciting competitions and to create pictures that will go around the world.
For the following year, the Nine Knights will stay in Livigno; in 2014, the Freeski event as well as the mountain bike event will be held on the Mottolino Fun Mountain.
Nico Zacek, professional freeski athlete and initiator of Nine Knights is happy to have found the perfect resort for his events in Livigno: “During the first edition of our event, we got to know Livigno and Mottolino as welcoming hosts and professional partners. Livigno is one of the leading resorts for freeskiing, but also for freeride mountain biking in Europe. We couldn’t have asked for a better resort partner!”
