During the last Vienna Air King, the first wildcard for the FMB World Tour Diamond event, Red Bull District Ride, was awarded to Szymon Godziek (POL). His phenomenal run during the finals rewarded him with a place on the podium and a wildcard for the world’s biggest urban mountain bike competiton.

It is clear that 23 year old Szymon Godziek has worked hard during the winter break. At the last two FMB World Tour events, Hall of Dirt in Stuttgart (GER) and Vienna Air King (AUT), he won the best trick contests with his stunning backflip cliffhanger.

During the Vienna Air King finals, he locked down a solid run with incredibly technical tricks, including a high amplitude backflip tailwhip and a mid-run cashroll. Szymon’s outstanding performance demonstrates that his has the talent and skill to compete at the highest level, which is why his wildcard for Red Bull District Ride is well deserved. Athletes have another opportunity to win a wildcard for Red Bull District Ride at Swatch Prime Line Munich during Munich Mash in July.

For Szymon Godziek this “free ride ticket” is very special: “For us riders, Red Bull District Ride is THE highlight of the year. I am really stoked to have a spot at this awesome urban event.” Saying that, with such a calibre event as Red Bull District Ride, also comes great competition. Szymon should not expect an easy ride as all of the big names from the FMB World Tour will be there to compete for the win.

Freeride ‘top dawgs’ such as current FMB World Tour Champion Sam Pilgrim (GBR), Martin Soderstrom (SWE) and Brandon Semenuk (CAN) will be throwing down their biggest tricks and pushing their skills to the limit in order to impress the expected 50,000 spectators and most importantly the judges. The unique urban course will be designed by non other than former Red Bull District Ride winner Aaron Chase (USA). His experience as a world-class rider will ensure the course is packed with some never seen before features to showcase the riders in the most spectacular way.
