Talk to me about the story of the band!
We are A Hero Named Coward, a five piece maetalcore band from Brescia, Italy. The idea to create a band like this, came out about 2 years ago. It was sudden love, so we decided begin to write material. After spending time in composition, we had a little line-up change, and now we’re ready to bring our hard work on the stage! We have an EP distribuited by This is Core Records in 2015.

What did you do in the last six months?
We spent the last six months recording our EP, “Choices”. We recorded it at Excess Studio in Turin, Italy. It was a great experience spent between days of hard work and fun.

What have you got in your wallet now?
We have a lot of energy to bring on stages and lots of projects for the future, like writing some new material and at last but not least, touring with our music. We’re looking forward to find venues in Europe for a future tour.

Why have you chosen this name for your band?
The name of the band came out a day, spent chatting on wich should have been the best name for us. “It sounds well” we thought. So we decided to keep it officialy. Later we discover that there’s a curious story behind this name. Charles Coward, a Second World War hero, known for his sacrifice due to save many jews from Auschwitz.

How important is the look/appearance for your band?
Appereance isn’t the most important thing for us, but it’s a side of the coin that you can’t let down if you want to seem as professional as you can. Some bands give too much attentions to the appereance, neglecting music itself. But you don’t have to neglect even appereance, you can’t play in bathrobe and slippers!

Tell us about the new EP “Choices”. Are you fully satisfied with it?
Yep, completely! We are fully satisfied with our work, and we’re looking forward to let you hear it.
It’s short, compact and direct.

Which is the highest point of the EP?
I think the highest point in the EP is the EP itself. The songwriting, riffs, breakdowns, vocals. Everything is perfect in our opinion!

…And the low point?
In our very onest opinion, there’s no low point in this work! It’s strong and heavy, but also very melodic. You have to be confident with your own creation. Of course, you don’t have to relax yourself. You’ve always to try improve your music. Thing that we’re doing right now.

How would you define your sound?
Our sound it’s like a modern melodic metalcore, but with personal influences brought by each member of the band. Someone compares it to A Day To Remember or The Amity Affliction, but we are unique.

Metalcore. Describe for me this word!
For me it’s a fusion between heavy riffs, brutal breakdown, screaming vocals and melodic chorus. It’s a kind of evolution of classic metal and hardcore punk. A better evolution.

Which bands have influenced your style?
A Day To Remember for sure, also The Ghost Inside and Memphis May Fire.

What is your idea of perfect happiness?
Perfect happiness is touring the world bringing yourself on the stage. Spending your life doing what you love. In my case will be making music all life long.

Tell me some of the bands you admire.
Absolutely Bring Me The Horizon. They changed their style many times, but they’re still on top of the “metalcore” world.

What song is in your head right now?
Right now? Mmm… “Pharisees” by Memphis May Fire.

Name 3 words that describe your band.
Energetic, modern and catchy.

Which are the best and the worst qualities of your band?
Our best quality is the dedication we have. It’s not a hobby for us, it’s a full time job.
I don’t think we have bad qualities, we’re a strong crew of people always working to improve our skills. Obviously we’re not perfect, but we’re on a good way to reach the perfect alchemy.

And of your local music scene?
In our local music scene there are many bands that deserve an higher visibility, but it’s a bit difficult to emerge cause there are also bands that don’t deserve their fame.

What is the most embarrassing situation you’ve ever been with A Hero Named Coward?
At the moment I don’t remember anything embarassing. Sorry! :)

Have you got a good reason to be in Behind Magazine?
That’s a cool opportunity to get us known! :) It’s a great magazine, that not only talks of music! It can be a good showcase.

Have you got something to add?
Yep, thanks for this interview. For anyone who want to purchase our EP, you can find it on Itunes, Google Play, Amazon, or in free streaming on Spotify, Deezer and every other digital platform!
