Peetu Nabs a TTR Title Repeat

After yet another insane season of contest domination, Nike’s favorite Finn, Peetu Piiroinen, just became the first rider in the history of snowboarding to win back-to-back TTR World Tour titles.

Peetu ran away with this year’s crown after an esteemed victory last weekend at the Arctic Challenge (TTR standings heading into the AC dictated that Piiroinen only needed a top-five result to win the title, but hey, first place works, too).

The TTR crown is based on each rider’s top six results in tour-sanctioned events, and Peetu has a heck of a heat sheet, right now. He kicked off the 09/10 winter with an explosive second place at the Innsbruck Air & Style in December, then on to double wins in both slopestyle and halfpipe at the European Open, followed by his latest victory in Norway at the Arctic Challenge, which made him unbeatable in TTR point standings.

Keep an eye out for Peetu at the U.S. Open in Vermont next weekend, where he’ll undoubtedly bag some more podiums, as well as partake in the official TTR crowning.
