Results of the Telekom Local Support Park Challenge

What the spectators got to see last saturday was BMX somewhere between genius and madness. The Reithalle in Ulm/Germany was filled up to the last place and offered a perfect playground for tricks that will long be remembered.

The 68 riders from Germany, the UK, Austria, Hungary and Switzerland were definitely pushing their own limits doing tricks – and sometimes went a little bit too far. There were some scary moments and unfortunately the paramedics had to come into action but all riders stayed strong and were back at the venue to watch the finals after a short visit to the hospital.

The heat was already on during the five min long amateur jam sessions where the riders fought for every point. In the end it was Jan Mihaly who came first, followed by Jaron Johnson and Marius Kloppe. Besides tons of stuff by Monster Energy, Pro-tec, the Fiat Freestyle Team, Felt Bikes and the Schickeria BMX Shop he also won the wildcard for the Telekom Extreme Playgrounds for the second time this year. So this was probably his last contest as an amateur. On November 20th he will then be riding in front of 5.000 spectators in Berlin.

During the pro finals no points were given away either. The international riders list didn’t disappoint and kept the Reithalle on their toes with unbelievable transfers, drops and technical moves. One crazy trick was followed by the next. No easy job for the judges. In the end the 1st place went to Markus Braumann with tricks such as a 360 Tailtap to Tailwhip from the mini ramp over the very manly sub box back to the course, followed by Sergej Geier and David Reincke. Besides prize money the guys will also be going to Berlin. They will start with riders such Brett Banasiewicz and Harry Main at the Velodrom to fight for a overall prize money of 20.000 Dollar.
