Swiss mountain bike 4X World Cup racer and BMX Olympics competitor Roger Rinderknecht won’t ride for GT bikes anymore. Roger and GT quit their cooperation after four successful years: two times second at 4X World Championships (2006 & 2008), second at the European championships in 2009 and countless Top 3 placings at world cups over the years.
The Cycling Sports Group (brands: GT, Cannondale, Mongoose, Schwinn and Sugoi) is rearranging all its sports marketing activities. GT will focus more on the downhill-sport in the future. Due to the world economic crisis, budgets will be slightly reduced at the same time. Therefore, the contract between Roger and GT could not be renewed. Steve Spencer, international GT team manager, regrets this fact because he is loosing a very professional athlete that has always been the man for a place on the podium of competitions worldwide.

Roger keeps calm: “I felt really comfortable with GT and regret this decision. At this point, I want to thank everybody at GT for the time we shared. Very special thanks go to the Swiss distributor velo.com, who got me into GT. But the whole thing is also a big chance for me. I am looking forward to next year and the new challenges. I can’t wait for the upcoming 4X season, as well as I am happy to represent my long term partners Oakley, IXS, Onza, SR Suntour and DT Swiss at the world cup circus. The BMX qualifications for the 2012 Olympics have also begun and I will work as hard as I can to make my way to London for Switzerland!”
Markus Zuber, Velo.com sales manager, is sure that Roger will be successful in getting a new bike sponsor: “I’ve been in the sports business for over 20 years now and have been working with masses of athletes and teams. Roger is one-of-a-kind: despite all his success, he is still down to earth and a great personality – on and off his bike. He knows how to market himself and has a huge contact network. It’s a pain for me having to let him go. We all wish him just the best for his future!”
