At the age of 35, Steve Peat still hoped to climb onto the highest step of the podium. Steve Peat is the Downhill World Champion.
Greg Minnaar of South Africa came just five hundredths of a second behind the winner, with Australia’s Michael Hannah at -0.69 and Fabien Barel of France -0.84.

The gold in the women’s competition went to Emmeline Ragot, who beat Great Britain’s Tracey Moseley and Kathleen Pruitt of the USA to first place.
In the junior men’s competition Brook MacDonald of New Zealand beat Shaun O’Connor of Australia and Danny Hart of Great Britain.
