Superenduro Powered by SRAM – EMTN 2012
Limone Piemonte (CN) – 17 July 2012
Enduro of Nations is coming. 28-29 July Superenduro Powered by SRAM will head to Sauze d’Oulx for the biggest date in the enduro calendar. Italy will host round one of e-MTN supported by Vibram and then the competition will move to Valloire in France for the second round 4-5 August. The two villages border stations are only 1hr drive away. After the success of 2011’s competition there, Superenduro (Italy) and Tribe Events (France) agreed that Sauze d’Oulx in the Alpi Bike Resort was the natural place to hold the Italian leg of the competition.
For the Italian round, riders will race to the Superenduro rules and for the French round they will use the Enduro Series rules. This means at Valloire riders will only be allowed to inspect the course on foot before the competition. Each country can enter three teams: one for men, one for women and one for juniors.
The French men’s team is confirmed as Remy Absalom, Nicolas Quere and Florian Nicolai. Italy’s men will be represented by Davide Sottocornola, Andrea Bruno and Alex Lupato. The Italian women’s team is Chiara Pastore, Valentina Macheda and Marianna Uttini and the juniors are Jacopo Orbassano, Danilo Pennini and Matteo Raimondi. The UK have also fielded a strong team, with Dan Atherton, Al Stock and Joe Barnes. Many other teams are awaiting confirmation, including Germany, Switzerland, Slovenia, Belgium, Finland, Hungary, Ireland, Spain , Portugal and the United States.
The race format, similar to 2011, will be made up of two very intense days of competition. On Saturday, July 28 there are scheduled six special stages, drawn on the trails of the Sauze d’Oulx bike park. Including the return of the legendary Supersauze and it’s 1,000m of vertical drop. On Sunday riders will take on two more special stages and then in the afternoon they will compete in a Supermountain-format mass-start race from the slopes of Monte Fraiteve high above the town, finishing in the heart of the town.
This weekend is a must for riders and fans of enduro, with two unique races and maybe a base in Sauze d’Oulx for a mountain biking holiday!
