Superenduro PRO3 Gemona – From the beach to the mountains!

The hangover from the Enduro World Series passed quickly and the Superenduro Powered by SRAM is back on the road again, this time the destination is Gemona. The third PRO race of 2013 is a new stop for the circuit, that follows a great sprint race there in 2012. On 1 and 2 June the world of enduro moves to Preapli Giulie for another big weekend.

The Gemona race really opens up the summer for the Superenduro season. As the weather gets warmer, it’s the first step away from the coast and into the mountains, ahead of the high mountain races at Sauze D’Oulx and Madesimo. Last year, Gemona hosted a round of the Sprint series, but this year they have raised the level to host a PRO race.

At the same time as the race is the festival, “Yes, we bike!” In the race that marks the halfway point of the season the top riders will be fighting hard for the red leader’s number plate. The location of Gemona will alos favour riders from Austria, Slovenia and Croatia, who want to come and experience racing a Superenduro.

Last year Manuel Ducci won the Sprint race here and at Punta Ala confirmed his place as one of the top competitors this year. Davide Sottocornola will certainly want to put up a strong showing and Alex Lupato must be riding high after finishing as the top Italian at the EWS. Andrea Bruno has again been struck by misfortune, reaggravating a previous shoulder injury at Punta Ala and is still unsure whether he will be able to race this soon again after.
