Talk to me about the story of the band!
Entail was born in 2010, we knew each other from long time but we use to play different genres, with other bands, all metalcore/nu metal oriented. One day we met and decided to join our forces in order to create this new project. At the beginning our sound was more “rockish” but after one year we naturally changed the way we approach the songwriting in a more modern and aggressive way, without forgetting our origins. Then our first EP: “Lies of a free man” and now the full-length “United States Of Mind”, gigs, an european tour…

What did you do in the last six months?
In winter we focused on completing our full-lenght (mostly in mixing and mastering it), then after March 26th, we concentrated in rehearsing and preparing our shows, and obviously in playing our music in stages, showcases and so on…

What have you got in your wallet now?
Dreams, expectations, will of sharing our creations with people. Also a lot of money!

Why have you chosen this name for your band?
Entail stands for legacy, heritage. Is a hope, our goal is to communicate something abstract from our minds turning, due to the lyrics and music, in something concrete… Listenable. Something that could evoke feels in listeners: rage, sense of perdition, loneliness but also hope, desire of freedom, evolution.

How important is the look/appearance for your band?
Unfortunately appearance is very important nowadays, that’s why there are a lot of beautiful and well-dressed crappy bands out there making a lot of success and, viceversa, a lot of kicking asses bands playing in their own garage forever, without trendy shirts or hats… Fashion before passion is the new trend. It’s funny how bands from here act like american guys, forgetting the place where they live, putting on the stage a complete fiction of theirselves. We used to consider ourselves not prisoners of a style, of a trend… Although, as you know, we are Italians, and we like to dress nicely!

Tell us about the new album “United States of Mind”. Are you fully satisfied with it?
Yes, completely. The new album is a totally self-produced album. We worked hard in order to obtain our best from nothing. We are so proud of what we’ve done! Hope you appreciate our work as we do!

Which is the highest point of the LP?
For sure, our last song composed during the studio session: “Bitter smile”, that, how can you listen, differs in structure and composition from the common groove of the LP.

…And the low point?
“Nostalgia”: the oldest song composed. It’s a song we had since the first EP “Lies of a free man” but it wasn’t finished yet so we decided not to put it in. Sincerely we love that song but we still think it sounds past-connected even if re-arranged for “United States Of Mind”.

How would you define your sound?
Aggressive but melodically composed and easy to listen. Not intricated for the sake if it but thoughtful.

Metalcore. Describe for me this word!
The genre we love! An awesome mix of the metal style from the last 15 years… Even if we think nowadays it’s becoming raped and abused. It’s easy to drop-tune a guitar or a bass and making breakdowns, hard is to put that way of playing in a more complex composition, without being trite and banal.

Which bands have influenced your style?
Old bands like Soilwork, As I Lay Dying, In Flames and something up to date like Periphery, August Burns Red and Architects.

What is your idea of perfect happiness?
Joy of being, making what you love everyday, sharing our thoughts with as many people as possible.

Tell me some of the bands you admire.
All the bands that manage to remain consistent over time, the bands that does not sell themselves out but that can always reinvent their style and way of being every day, with a high level quality without being banal. (like Bring Me The Horizon… ehm… no!)

What song is in your head right now?
The new August Burns Red album. The perfect way to reinventing metalcore again and again.

Name 3 words that describe your band.
Hangovers – Pussy – Money – just kiddin!
Passion – Hard Work – Sharing

Which are the best and the worst qualities of your band?
We are a band that work really hard, every day, no matter what. That’s our best quality: even if we succeed or not, after a good or a bad gig we use to remain focused on what we love to do.
Our worst point, sincerely speaking, is the difficulty in finding free time for us, reharsing apart. We are often very busy and it’s hard to find the energies to promote our work as good as we should.

And of your local music scene?
It sucks. It’s quite impossible to play a metal oriented genre in a country that listen everyday the same old pop songs for decades, although there are plenty of awesome metal bands here, also near our little city. Music clubs and stages are closing due to few audience, and often they they aren’t able to offer a good situation for the band. For our is a really good goal having done what we have done… And we are not going to stop doing what we love despite the difficulties.

What is the most embarrassing situation you’ve ever been with Entail?
A situation we won’t easily forget. European tour, day 1, a little town in Hungary… As you can imagine we were completely excited! After long, strange and crazy roads, lost in countrysides near Budapest, we finally get there at 5 PM, 2 hours to plug cables/intruments, a fully drum set, soundcheck, dinner… Everything was good, but what about the audience?! There were ZERO guys on that club! We started thinking about a totally ruinous promotion… And so it was. The club was empty, even the bartenders weren’t there! We didn’t give a fuck, we decide to switch on our amps and at least to start reharsing for the next day gig! We were ready but while we were starting the club’s owner call us: “Yes?” we replied. Him: “Would you please waiting for my son? He’s coming right now to your show guys”. It was such a paradoxical situation that we, completely smiling, dediced to wait. Then the guy came after 15 minutes, and we were finally able to start the strangest concert (for one Hungarian man) we’ve ever done in our career.
