THE NEXT BIG THING! NOTHING I KNOW

Talk to me about the story of the band!
The project was born in 2007, but the last transformation of the band happened in 2010 when we started composing a modern hardcore metal with melodic vocals.

What did you do in the last six months?
We put out our album with an independent italian hardcore label, we put out our first video, and we played some gigs. Unfortunately we had also to look for a new bass player, and this slowed us a bit in the album promotion. 2016 will be the great year for us.

What have you got in your wallet now?
Plenty of experiences, an awesome album, a lot of energy that is waiting to explode on stages.

Why have you chosen this name for your band?
We got this name thinking the biggest problems in our society and especially in our country.
Nothing I Know wants to make you wonder “what we really know about our society?” and to joke about something has always been an unpleasant italian “clichè”: the Omertà.

How important is the look/appearance for your band?
A bit, some of us doesn’t care very much about that but actually the look is important for every band in the world.

Tell us about the new LP “Through”. Are you fully satisfied with it?
Yes, we are very satisfied. It was an hard path but we achieved our goal to record a great album that represent the quality of music we can do. (Not the only music we can do).

Which is the highest point of the LP?
We think it is the central part of our album, where there are melodic vocals parts we are really proud of.

How would you define your sound?
Old school hardcore mixed with modern metalcore sound and 90’s metal melodic vocals.

Metalcore. Describe for me this word!
Oh ho… That’s an hard point. For us metalcore is just a label, a box in which we can wrongly put plenty of bands but often there are bands that should never be defined just Metalcore. We don’t define us metalcore but Hardcore Metal. There is an enormous difference. Hardcore and Metal are two pure genres: lot of times during music history they have been mixed together (in such a huge amount of shades!) but they remain pure.

Which bands have influenced your style?
We are influenced by lots of old and contemporary bands, from old school hardcore, crossover, nu metal, to modern metal and metalcore bands. Obviously the bands closest to our sound are The Ghost Inside, Evergreen Terrace, Parkway Drive, Hatebreed, Comeback Kid, Sick Of It All, Terror…

What is your idea of perfect happiness?
Do what makes you happy, do what lets you to express yourself perfectly.

Tell me some of the bands you admire.
Just two names: one for the most true and perseverant hardcore band in the world (Sick of it All) and one of the most unique and important band in rock alternative music (Faith No More).

What song is in your head right now?
That’s really impossible to say, we listen to too many different types of music (hardcore, metal, rock, jazz, blues, edm, indie, punk rock, punk…).

Name 3 words that describe your band.
Powerful, True, Compelling.

Which are the best and the worst qualities of your band?
Best: the sensitivity with which we live music we play.
Worst: the inability to make compromises.

And of your local music scene?
We live in the second area in Italy for quantity of bands, locals, musicians….but in spite of this, playing music is going to be harder than ever. There is a continuously fight to bring people to concerts.

What is the most embarrassing situation you’ve ever been with Nothing I Know?
Playing in wrong situations in which our genre was not… Pleasant for the audience!

Have you got a good reason to be in Behind Magazine?
Well, as an hardcore band we always be connected to underground sports such as skateboard and other dynamic sports like snowboard, free ride etc. Behind Mag is a great magazine that mixes music and sports culture with a good attitude. We will be proud to be on it.
