THE NEXT BIG THING! THE ERASED
Tell me about the story of the band!
Hi, I’m Bobby, the singer and the guitarist of the band. The Erased has existed for eight years, so tell the whole story would be too long and boring. We formed in 2007: initially we were 4 (two guitars) and our aim were to make music very simple and effective inspired by Slipknot and Korn. Now, after a long time and the realisation of many songs and many lives, we are 3 and we have combined influences of all kind of music we like to hear.
What did you do in the last six months?
I can say that the most important things in this last months have been: the recording of “The Belly dancer” that has expanded “So far EP”, making it an Extended Edition; signing the contract with This Is Core and shooting our first music video with the song “So Far” precisely.
What have you got in your wallet now?
We are considering the feedback of our work on the listeners, taking advantage of all the criticisms and positive comments, and we are starting to plan the recording of the album complete.
Why have you chosen this name for your band?
We wanted a short and incisive name, but profound and cryptic at the same time. When we decided on the name we were very young and angry with life: an evening the other guitarist and I were talking and we were in agreement that in many days we would have wanted to be wiped off the face of the earth for not having ever lived them… So “The Erased”.
How important is the look/appearance for your band?
Before signing the contract with This Is Core Records, we did not pay much attention to the looking of the band, but we were interested to make your mark with our music. But then, comparing ourselves with bands more important than us, we decided to treat everything in detail, to be more professional. It has been an hard work to find a look since we’ve always been all metalheads deep inside, and we did not want to flaunt it very much. So we opted for the color that represents us more, that is black, but we try not to be too extreme, because our jobs do not allow it.
Tell us about the new EP “So Far”. Are you fully satisfied with it?
We are pleased with the fact that being a recording made for us, to see how the songs sing. Although the work is still at the beginning it has been noticed by a label, and for only two songs we have proposed a contract, giving us great confidence for the future.
Which is the highest point of the EP?
I think that the most successful song is “So Far”, so we have decided to shoot a videoclip. This song is the one we liked the most at the moment of recording and represent ourselves the most.
…And the low point?
Certainly the quality of the recording which, unfortunately, does not depend on us: in fact this EP was born from our attempt to find a studio that would make really what we are and where to go always to record new songs… To do that are necessary many attempts.
How would you define your sound?
I would call it raw, stripped-down, sometimes simple and sometimes delicate, but never dull.
Heavy music. Describe for me these words! And what do you think, is a good compromise to describe your style?
Our style is definitely heavy, but we have never liked to be channelled into a specific genre. Until now we have never faced the problem if our music is in a musical genre… Will be what we decide to record the album, so we will give an image more precise of us.
Which bands have influenced your style?
I would say: Opeth, Parkway Drive, Slipknot, In Flames, Bring Me The Horizon, Pantera.
What is your idea of perfect happiness?
For our chaotic lives and full of commitments, the perfect word is find “serenity”, and that’s what would make us more happy. From the perspective of the musicians, I think the greatest happiness is to play in front of a river of people who appreciate what you do and who sing your songs.
Tell me some of the bands you admire.
Personally the band that I love most are the ones who manage to put everything in the same song, in fact at this time I’m listening to Beetween The Buried And Me and Destrage. However, I like to keep up to date on all the new releases, because more than focus on the fact that I like an album or not, I like to focus on the stylistic choices and changes between the works of the same bands and trying to understand their motivations.
What song is in your head right now?
“Shadow Moses” by Bring Me The Horizon.
What do you think about your local music scene?
For now we are stuck with the lives, because we are starting the pre-productions of the album. We have done several live before the release of videoclip to inform all, as well as through Facebook.
What is the most embarrassing situation you’ve ever been with Erased?
Perhaps our first radio interviews, because we did not know how to behave and what to say… But in the end we managed well.
Have you got a good reason to be in Behind Magazine?
Yes, we would like to make a mark of our passing, albeit tiny, in the huge music scene of these days. I think you are one of the spearheads for doing so.
Have you got something to add?
Greetings to all those who have supported us over the years and the new ones that will begin to follow us.
