The next big thing! The Nerd Follia

What did you do in the last six months?
During the last six months we finished recording our album, shot two videoclips, “WWRevolution”  and “Logout” and started a promotional tour where we played with major bands such as Metronomy, Architecture In Helsinki and Planet Funk. And we are starting to write new songs already.

What do you’ve in your wallet now?

Nothing! DIY gives you a lot of freedom, but a lot of troubles too when it comes to investing and creating something on your own.

How much important is the image (look) for your band? Why?
We think the look is very important. For this tour, we developed together with fashion designer Chen Xuan and the guitarist’s grandmother (an awesome taylor) a serie of jackets elightened with electro-luminescent wire. The result is a naive Tron look, that suits the concept of the album: our life turning from real to digital.

What’s your idea of perfect happyness?
Do what you like and make a living from it. In our case happyness would be making a living out of our music and be able to think only about that. Unfortunately, our reality is much different, we all have full-time jobs, and struggle to find the time to create what we like to do: music. Still, this band it our way to escape from our daily routine.

Who are some of the bands you admire?
From the past, we love the bands which introduced electronic influences into conventional music, pioneers like Devo, Giorgio Moroder, New Order.
From the present we really enjoy the music of Metronomy, Phoenix, Everything Everything, Chromeo, Strokes, The Hives etc..

What song is in your head right now?
“Photoshop Handsome” by Everything Everything, it simply condensates the concept of our new album “Logout” in a single hit..that made us think a lot.

What’s the most embarassing situation you’ve ever been with Nerd Follia?
We were in Bangkok for a show, first time ever in Thailand. All taxi drivers and the sound engineer were pushing really hard for us to go and see those (not so) sexy shows where girls smoke cigars and pop bottles with their pussy. We decided to go and take a look, it was really gross. The most disgusting thing was the look on the faces of the drunk Japanese guys sitting next to us that were enjoying the show much more as we were. It was really creepy and embarassing at the moment, but still a funny thing to remember now.

What’s the most ridiculous rumor you’ve read about the band?
That we’ve been in China and in the USA to play. The fact that our guitarist often goes to China for work, and that our ex drummer moved to LA made some people confused. However we’re flattered some people think we’re that cool that we’ve been on tour in such places :)

Do you’ve a good reason to be in Behind Magazine?
Well, if your readers enjoy new and independent stuff and want to go beyond mainstream and discover a new band, well, we think we got a very good reason!
