Vans Downtown Showdown for the first time in Europe

On sat 7 september 2009 will take place in Torino one of the most spectacular International skateboarding event ever: for the first time the legendary Vans Downtown Showdown lands in Europe.

The exclusive location will be the roof of the famous Lingotto, the FIAT cars office HQ, where skateboard teams from al lover Europe will gather to offer an unique show.

Built in 1916 and working since 1923, the historic FIAT plant is an integral part and crucial point of the city.

In 1930 several famous cars were built inside of it, including the famous FIAT 500.

In the past the roof has been used for CAR track tests, now is a modern complex with a concert arena, shops and an exclusive hotel used as set for the film “the Italian job”: a perfect place for a skate jam!

Six skate brand have been invited to design and create new features; the three most original ones will be realized and will be the protagonists of the show. As usual, spectators and skaters will be able to see an unique event, guaranteed by the exclusive location.
Each one of the six companies invited will subscribe 6 riders picking the best from their rooster, to conquer the 50.000 euros prize.

FIAT QUBO is the official FIAT FREESTYLE TEAM veichle, and will act as VIP SHUTTLE for the event.

Vans Downtown Showdown is made by skaters to skaters and has been hosted for four years in the famous Paramount Pictures Studios in Hollywood, with a great success. Legends like Jamie Thomas, Alex Olson and Rick Mc Crank along with companies such as GIRL, ZERO, TOY MACHINE and ALIEN WORKSHOP has been invited to create their OFF THE WALL feature to skate.

Prepare yourself to add Euro Flava to this famous event that, from september, will set the new standard in skate contests.
