Airtime, adrenalin and action: The Out of Bounds Festival is a must see highlight on the biking calendar 2016! From June 9th to June 12th Saalfelden Leogang will be going wild, when the top downhillers will be racing at the UCI Mountain Bike Downhill World Cup and slopestyle stars will be sending tricks at the FMB World Tour Gold Event 26TRIX. Guests are most welcome to get on their own bikes as well and show off their skills to the test on the pump track.
All biking fans will be thrilled with the amount of action at the Out of Bounds Festival. The world’s fastest riders are travelling to Leogang to participate in the UCI Mountain Bike Downhill World Cup. “The Speedster” will once again challenge every single world-class rider with its huge jumps, high-speed sections, rocks and roots. This highly difficult line has shown legendary outcomes within the past two years: 2014 Aaron Gwin (USA) managed to conquer the trail with a flat rear tyre, but last year he even topped that.
Although his chain snapped, Gwin not only made it all the way down, but also sent the fastest run of the weekend, which secured him the win in Leogang. The women’s competition in 2014 was unbelievably exciting, when Manon Carpenter (GBR) only just managed to leave downhill star and fellow Brit, Rachel Atherton, behind her. One year later, however, Atherton dominated her opponents and secured first place in 2015. On Sunday, June 12th at 12 o’clock downhill fans will once again see, how bikes withstand the test and favourites are put under pressure.
For all those, who love tricks on two wheels, 26TRIX will guarantee to take your breath away! The FMB World Tour Gold Event will be hosted in Leogang on June 11th. The slopestyle specialists will be getting on their bikes at 5 pm for the final of this legendary contest in the Austrian Alps. In the past years, stars like Martin Söderström and Brett Rheeder have convinced the jury with huge trick combos. History has been written on the same course: Greg Watts made the crowd go wild in 2006 after landing the first ever double flip on a mountain bike. Last year, the young Frenchman Antoine Bizet succeeded with a cashroll, a double backflip, a backflip 360 and a front flip no hander, ahead of Nicholi Rogatkin, who ended up second and Thomas Genon in third place.
Apart from these two world-class contests the Out of Bounds Festival also offers a bunny hop contest on Thursday, a pump track contest on Friday evening and the Kids Pump Track Challenge on Saturday morning. On Sunday, there are two more highlights for the fans: the Red Bull Sky Dive Show and a trial show with Tom Öhler. Furthermore, fans will be able to take a look behind the scenes of team paddocks on the spacious Team & Expo Area to see how the stars prepare for their contests. To round off a weekend full of biking action and fun, the DJs Wild Culture will entertain with vibes at the Ö3-Disco.
